RAINFOREST & WATERFALL HIKES (FULL DAY)
Maui's ultimate waterfall wonderland is the pristine Kipahulu Valley,
a half-hour drive from the very Hawaiian town of Hana. We hike along
a national park trail that follows one of the most magnificent streams
on Maui, a network of pools and cascading waterfalls. To reach a secluded
40-foot waterfall, we swim through four clear pools inside a canyon
dripping with ferns and hanging vines (swimming is optional). After lunch
at the top of a 200-foot falls, we wind through dark forests of 60-foot
bamboo that lead to a 400-foot waterfall. Probably the best day of your vacation.

RAINFOREST & WATERFALL HIKES (HALF DAY)
We call this the tame and the untamed. We drive 25 miles along the
historic Hana Highway, a road famous for its lush tropical scenery and
breath-taking coastline. Our destination is a beautiful botanical garden
called the Garden of Eden. After a quick tour of manicured nature,
we descend into wilderness -- down 250 feet on a private switchback trail
carved out of the hillside. We then hike up a stream to 30- and 40-foot
waterfalls with beautiful pools -- a perfect spot for lunch and a swim.

FAQ:
What shoes do we wear?
Running shoes or hiking boots are fine for all the hikes. Tevas are fine
for the rain forest treks, but not for anything strenuous or mountainous
--unless you have strong feet. Your shoes may get muddy or
dirty on any of the hikes.
What clothes should we wear?
Shorts and short-sleeved shirts are best for most hikes. Haleakala Crater
and the Cloud Forest hikes are often cool, so a jacket, down vest,
sweatshirt or sweater is recommended.
Do we need to bring anything else?
A towel, if the hike includes swimming, and sun screen.
Are there mosquitoes?
In the rain forests, yes. In Haleakala Crater, the coastal areas and
the Cloud Forest, no. We bring mosquito repellent, but bring your own,
if you prefer a particular brand.
Should we bring water?
No
Should we bring a camera?
Yes
Will there be a bathroom on the trail?
In most cases, no. If you're uncomfortable using the bushes, please let
us know when you sign up for the hike and we'll see if the guide can
make a bathroom stop before we reach the trailhead.
